The Wellington School
Help for the Homeless

The Youth for Justice team at The Wellington School focused on the homeless in their community.  They researched using the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio, and found that 150,000 Ohioans are homeless.  The students learned that homeless people have a higher chance of getting sick because they do not have medicine, blankets, or adequate clothes.  The homeless usually do not have proper nutrition either.

This team of students partnered with the Columbus YWCA Family Center to raise money for the YWCA.  Some students sold animal toys.  Others created smoothies to sell to their fellow students.  Yet another part of the YFJ team sold ice cream and milk shakes.

When these three teams combined, the YFJ students raised $241.87 for the Columbus YWCA Family Shelter.
