The Wellington School
AIDS Advocacy

The students at the Wellington School researched the HIV virus.  They found there is no known cure for HIV.  Approximately 33 million people worldwide are living with the virus.  The YFJ team from the Wellington School wanted to do something to help the people with HIV.

The team had to make a decision to help people in Africa with the disease or a local HIV support group.  The students decided to focus their efforts on aiding the Columbus AIDS Task Force (CATF) because they felt they could make a bigger difference locally.  The team contacted the CATF about the project and invited people to come to speak with the YFJ team about the disease and prevention.

The YFJ students created posters to help raise an awareness of the problem.  They also worked to raise money, collecting and donating $344.98 to the CATF.
