The
Felicity-Franklin Middle School Youth for Justice team noticed that
obesity in their school is a problem. Their school community has a bad
health image because of the obesity. The team members wanted to do
something to help their peers.
In
researching the topic, the team members concluded that many adolescents
are overweight. This is a result of lack of exercise and overeating
unhealthy food. To raise an interest for healthy activities, the team
organized field day for their fellow students. At this event, the
students participated in games and outside activities, engaging in
exercise.
The team
members created posters and announcements publicizing and explaining the
event. On the last day of school, the students participated in this
event that got them exercising as well as utilizing team-building
exercises. This event worked to get the students at the school excited
about exercising as well as a great send off for the summer! |
