Middle School Mock Trial
cases are written by teams of teachers and lawyers who craft a trial
from literature taught in middle school English classes. This
program is designed using Ohio’s content standards for social
studies and English language arts and is ideal for collaborative
teaching. Watch analytical and thinking skills grow and shine when
your students argue these cases.
Books used in Middle School Mock Trial
The Outsiders; Nothing But
the Truth; The Light in the Forest; The True Confessions of
Charlotte Doyle; The Giver; Animal Farm; Of Mice and Men;
Roll of
Thunder, Hear My Cry; Bloodstain; The Speckled Band and Lord of the
Flies.
Discuss
bullying in the newest Middle School Mock Trial piece!
The new middle school mock trial case blends betrayal, savagery, and
the struggle of good versus evil to bring an exciting simulation to
your classroom! State of Ohio v. Frankie Hunter is the perfect
accompaniment when reading William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. For

Authentic assessment
Classes are encouraged to
hold showcase trials among other classes in their school or district
or
demonstrate student expertise at the optional State Showcase. Judged
by panels of attorneys, designed to create school pride and generate
learning at the highest possible level, the State Showcase takes
place in Columbus at the Supreme Court of Ohio.
