Engaging Student Programs
Each program of the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education aligns with Ohio content standards for social studies and English language arts.

Mock Trial -  Through a simulated trial in a real courtroom, students learn firsthand about the  law,  court procedures and the judicial system.  Builds critical thinking, public speaking, writing and interpretation skills.  Grades 9-12.

We the People -   This nationally acclaimed program helps students understand the history and principles of our constitutional government. Your class lives their constitutional rights and responsibilities through simulated Congressional hearings.  Classroom texts for elementary, middle and high school levels. Grades 4-12.

Youth for Justice -  Students identify problems in their schools and communities then design and implement solutions to remedy them. Ideal for a service learning curriculum.   Grades 4-9.

Middle School Mock Trial -   Watch analytical and critical thinking skills grow and shine when your students argue cases designed around commonly read middle school literature. Grades 7-8.

Project Citizen -   Show your students how they can monitor and influence public policy. Project Citizen comes with a set of free workbooks and access to a network of professionally trained educators to share ideas and support.  Grades 5-12.

Informative Teacher Conferences

Law & Citizenship Conference -  Timely workshops give teachers the tools they need to engage and energize their class.  Spark lively discussions and strengthen analytical skills on a variety of levels: social studies, civics, literature and related subjects. Ohio Government in Action Conference - Designed for teachers by teachers.  Get an insider’s view of Ohio government and meet state lawmakers and Ohio Supreme Court justices. Take home a variety of interactive teaching materials and lesson plans. Graduate credit available.
