About We the People

We The People...The Citizen and the Constitution is an instructional program on the history and principles of American constitutional democracy for elementary, middle, and high school students. The program is based on curricular materials developed by The Center for Civic Education and acclaimed by educators. Simulated congressional hearings, excellent for performance assessment, are built into the curriculum. Classes are encouraged to conduct simulated congressional hearings.  These hearings allow upper elementary, middle, and high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We the People is aligned with the Ohio academic content standards for the social studies and for the English language arts.

We the People Textbooks

We the People textbooks are available for the elementary, middle, and high school levels to aid in the teaching of the curriculum.  Visit http://store.civiced.org for the full selection of books available, including ordering entire class sets of textbooks.  The Center has a small library of We the People books at its office in Columbus available for a nominal shipping charge.  Click here for an order form.
